Loose page diary relating to the First World War service of 30137 Gunner Alexander Sutherland Mackay, 8th Australian Field Artillery Brigade. This diary written between 11 October 1918 and 7 November 1918 covers: how the wether was affecting the fighting; how the papers they receive starts rumours along the front line, many of which are wrong; the action of the German forces from his position; the orders they get to move which are then cancelled; how is feet are always wet; his move to Wiancourt and back to staying in houses rather than in tents or shelters; his praise of Scottish soldiers and his excitement over rumours that two German generals had waved the white flag.
