Watson, Gordon (Chaplain)
Collection relating to the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC) service of 321465 Chaplain Gordon A Watson, Force Communications Unit, 1992-1993.
Wallet 1 of 1 - Consists of three reports written by Watson during his deployment to Cambodia as chaplain to the Force Communications Unit in UNTAC from 1992 to 1993. The collection includes two chaplaincy reports, one provisional from October 1992 and a final tendered on 25 May 1993, and a post-exercise report to the commanding officer of the Force Communications Unit, Lieutenant Colonel Martin Studdert, in March 1993. The reports discuss pre-deployment arrangements, the composition and role of the Force Communications Unit, Watson's tasks and movements around Cambodia, his acting as a piper during the Anzac Day service in Phnom Penh, the ministry, chaplaincy and counselling services offered by Watson, the support given to the Australian contingent by the Uniting Church in Australia, the welfare and morale of personnel in more remote locations, and recommendations for future operations.
