Ruinen von Luds [Ruins of Lódz]
Description
Ruins of Lódz, Poland where civilians are seen walking through town amongst the debris carrying large bags over their shoulders. The Battle of Lódz took place in September 1939 during the German invasion of Poland. In 1940, Lódz was renamed Litzmannstadt and became an imporant German industrial city. The Germans established a ghetto where approximately 160,000 Jewish people were forced to reside in harsh conditions while they endured slave labor in the German factories.
