Wallet 1 of 1 - Log book relating to Vernon Ainslie Parker
Log book relating to the Second World War service of Commodore Vernon Ainslie Parker, HMAS Hawkesbury. File consists of a single, bound, cloth covered journal (S.519 - Journal for the use of Midshipmen) issued to Midshipmen as part of their training. It covers the period 13 January 1944 to 9 December 1948 and contains regular entries regarding the activities of various ships on which he served, namely HMS Berwick, HMS Cambrian, HMS Hare, HMAS Quiberon, HMAS Manoora, HMAS Gascoyne, HMAS Swan, HMAGPV 960. During this time Parker progressed from Midshipman to Lieutenant. Much of his time was spent escorting convoys from the Scapa Flow across the Atlantic. Also included in the journal are various illustrations and maps and occassional comments by the ship's captain.
