Studio portrait of 406626 Sergeant Thomas Alan ‘Pom’ Rutherford, 54 Operational Training RAF. Unemployed prior to enlisting 03 February 1941, he embarked from Newcastle on 17 November 1941. Sergeant Rutherford died in an aircraft accident, on 14 August 1942, while on a non-operational training flight near Duns, Berwickshire. He was 20 years old.
On the reverse of the image is a hand written note that Sergeant Rutherford was the younger brother of Ian T Rutherford.
