Description
Portrait of QX5634 Corporal (Cpl) Horton Ford McLachlan, 2/15 Battalion. Cpl McLachlan was 24 years old when he embarked with the 2/15th Battalion, arriving in the Middle East on 3 February 1941. He was promoted to Corporal on 15 April 1941, and Acting Sergeant on 8 October 1942. McLachlan was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for his actions on 1 September 1942 near Tel el Eisa. He was severely wounded on 28/29 October 1942 and returned to Australia, where he convalesced and took on a training role. McLachlan was discharged on 12 May 1945.
