2261 Harry Percy Sampson
Description
Studio Portrait of 2152 (later 2261) Private (Pte) Harry Perce (Percy?) Sampson, 43rd Battalion (later 37th Battalion). Pte Sampson, a butcher of Port Pirie, South Australia, he embarked with the 3rd Reinforcements on 28 August 1916. He was reallotted a service number 2261 and posted to the 37th Battalion in January 1917. In February 1917 he was promoted to Lance Corporal. On 27 February while on operations around Armentieres, he was reported missing, later deemed killed in action following a court of inquiry.
