Description

Close up of nose art on 460 Squadron's Avro Lancaster aircraft nicknamed "K2 Killer". The artwork depicts a hand stabbing a knife through a swastika, and the text "K2 Killer". 17 knives have been painted on the aircraft, indicating that 17 missions had been flown at the time the photograph was made. An inscription on the back to Neal's wife Ruby (dated April 1944) reads "A snap taken of K2's insignea when we had done 17 trips in her. If the Jerrys ever catch us with it they'll ..."
