Description
AJRP Sub-Series name: Post-surrender Rabaul material received from HQ 8 Military District. This item is a memorandum from Lieutenant General KATO to Colonel TAKAHASHI regarding the situation in the Rabaul area. Matters discussed include the progress of repatriation, discussions with the Australian forces about the status of Indian labourers, the treatment of lawyers and interpreters, radio communications required for the transport of repatriated Japanese journalists. A copy of a circular note regarding the status of Indian labourers is also attached. The original of this note appears to have been issued on 22 April 1943 by KURODA Shigenori, the Chief of Staff of the South East Area Army.
