AWM82 2/261 - [Captured Japanese Documents:] Reference for liaison with the Australian forces [File in Japanese]
This item describes the procedures to be followed when an order is given by the Australian forces. It aimed to facilitate direct communication between the Australian forces and Japanese camps after the impending change to the command structure. When this document was issued, the 8th Area Army Headquarters were solely responsible for liaising between the Japanese army and the Australian forces in Rabaul. The document suggests supervisory staff must clarify who is accountable for the execution of each given order, record and report to the Chief of Staff about any given order, monitor the progress of incomplete orders and confirm the execution of each order. The document also provides an introduction to the existing filing system and the procedures for making a request or a representation.
