Studio portrait of 3517 / Q124272 Lieutenant Harold Charles McKee MC. A grazier from Dalby, Queensland McKee enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 10 August 1915 ans served on the Western Front with the 26th Battalion and then the 28th Battalion. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Mont St Quentin on 2 September 1918, he received the Military Cross medal. At age 47, McKee re-enlisted for the Second World War on 21 January 1942, serving with the Volunteer Defence Corps in Australia until declared medically unfit for service in 1943.
