Wanted! For murder...
United States National Security poster issued by the Office of War Information (OWI) in 1944 warning of the consequences of careless talk. The OWI wrote of the design 'This simple but highly effective poster achieves it's punch through its similarity to the traditional apprehension-of-criminal advertisement.' and distributed it widely. The poster was unpopular with some viewers who complained to the OWI that they resented the negative portrayal of ordinary citizens who were '...knitting, rolling bandages, working long hours at war jobs and then carrying on with 'women's' work at home...to which no salary and no glory are attached.'
Victor Keppler (1904-1987) was a prominent American commercial photographer whose completed a number of wartime propaganda poster designs for the United States Government.
