Portrait of 68 Private William John Crook, 1st Divisional Army Service Corps, of Wonthaggi, Vic, mounted on one of General Bridges' horses, thought to be called Pascha, at Mena Camp, Egypt. The donor, Arthur W Bazley was appointed batman to the Charles E W Bean, the Australian Official Correspondent. At this time, before the landing at Gallipoli, Bazley's closest associates were the batmen and grooms of senior officers at 1st Division Headquarters.
