Informal group portrait taken around the bar at the Officers' Mess at RAF Station Waddington on the occasion of the return of "S for Sugar" (the veteran Lancaster of No. 467 Squadron RAAF) to the station for a further tour of operations after having been reconditioned on completion of 112 operational sorties. Identified from left to right: 410172 Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) Edward Thomas Pickerd DFC from Melbourne, Victoria (later Air Commodore); 419874 Flt Lt Raymond William Markham from Donnybrook, Victoria; 405294 Flt Lt Edmund George Broad from Brisbane, Queensland (later Squadron Leader (Sqn Ldr) and awarded DFC); Section Officer (SO) Jacobs, WAAF; 416685 Sqn Ldr Eric Le Page Langlois DFC from Clarence Park, South Australia, Flight Commander (later Wing Commander (Wing Cdr), killed on flying operations over Germany on 3 March 1945); SO Dawson, WAAF; 20610 Flying Officer Robert William Board from Sydney, NSW (later Fl Lt and awarded DFC and bar); Sqn Ldr F L Wooledge, RAF; and 403564 Wing Cdr John Keith Douglas DFC AFC from Tamworth, NSW, Commanding Officer No. 467 Squadron RAAF (killed on flying operations over Germany on 8 February 1945).
