An Loc was a town attacked by two divisions of North Vietnamese troops using tanks, artillery and rockets over a sixty-nine day period. Brigadier Le Van Hung commanded the defence of the town. A photograph of him also appears on the poster.

Brigadier Le Van Hung (1933-1975) was appointed Chief of Police Department of Vinh Binh province and later as a battalion commander in 1964. In 1972 he proved to be a talented and brave infantry commander in the bloody battle of An Loc, holding the city under the enemy attacks. In 1975 he committed suicide.

The extensive Vietnamese text printed in red ink on the poster notes; ' HEROIC AN LOC.
