Studio portrait of Lieutenant Laurence Whistler Street, 3rd Australian Infantry Battalion. The son of Sir Philip Whistler Street and Lady Belinda Maud Street (nee Poolman), Lieutenant Street had been employed as a judge’s assistant prior to enlisting on 14 September 1914. He embarked with “A” Company from Sydney aboard HMAT Euripides (A14) on 20 October 1914. Lieutenant Street was killed in action, while serving in Gallipoli, on 19 May 1915. He was 21 years old.
