Description

A group of nine British and Australian prisoners-of-war who were employed on railway construction work at Bozanti and along the Taurus Mountain Railway, Turkey. Identified in the front row from left to right: 2228 Private (Pte) Arthur George Wiffen, 14th Battalion AIF (captured at Gallipoli in August 1915); 888 Lance Corporal George Ernest Kerr, 14th Battalion AIF (also captured in August 1915); unknown; and 1717 Pte Robert John Peters, 1st Australian Light Horse Regiment (captured in July 1916). The soldier second from the right in the back row is also believed to be an Australian. All were repatriated to England via Egypt in December 1918.
