Large brown photograph album relating to 402638 Squadron Leader Murray Charlton DFC and his service during the Second World War. From Sydney, New South Wales, Charlton enlisted on 18 September 1940 with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). He underwent training in Australia until January 1941, before embarking for Canada for training with the Empire Air Training Scheme and attachment to the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). In December 1941, he embarked for the United Kingdom and served with 59 Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) until the end of 1943. Charlton was transferred back to Canada and served there until the end of the war. He returned to Australia and was discharged on 18 October 1945.
