Description

A colour map on linen titled 'Map of Gallipoli' covering the area between Chana Ovasi, Burgas Tepe and Karajeuren. Scale 1:40,000, sheet 2, Survey Dept, Egypt and War Office, 1915. Map features roads, trenches, routes, buildings, and significant locations. Annotations include '8', '7', 'A.G.B.P.', 'Sketch plan showing results of Air Reconnaissances to 18th April 1915', 'Strongly defensive line', 'One Four Gun Battery', 'Ruins of Sestos', 'Salt Lake (Dry in Summer)', 'Yalova', 'The whole valley strongly Entrenched', 'Ungerdere', and 'Camp'. Areas of the map have been coloured in pencil. Previously belonged to Captain AGB Price, Auckland Battalion New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Shows Turkish defences at 18 April 1915. Reverse features 'Capt. A.C.B. Price Aukland Btn N.Z.E.F.', and a purple stamp that reads 'Gallipoli 2 1:40,000'.
