Description
Somalia. 1993-03-26. Snipers from 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), preparing to go on an early morning field exercise. Several are applying makeup. The soldier in the centre wears, on his upper body, camouflage of natural coloured materials such as hessian and cloth strips. This is part of what is known as a Yowi suit. In the background are armoured personnel carriers (APCs) of B Squadron, 3/4 Cavalry Regiment. They are serving with the Australian contingent to the Unified Task Force in Somalia (UNITAF).
