Description
Somalia. 1993-03-26. A sniper from 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), on a field exercise. Concealed among thorn bushes, he wears camouflage of natural coloured materials including long headgear made of hessian strips, and gloves with only the index finger cut out. This is part of what is known as a Yowi suit. Note the camouflaged rifle. He is serving with the Australian contingent to the Unified Task Force in Somalia (UNITAF).
