Description
Warrant Officer Class 1 Bill Bowyer, Counter Intelligence Detachment attached to the 1st Battalion Group, serving with the Australian contingent to the Unified Task Force in Somalia (UNITAF), beside a makeshift washing machine built by Corporal Peter Chalker from a design by Corporal Chad Hughes, also of Support Company. Made from a cable reel, with an ammunition box welded on to form an opening, the machine is in the collection of the Australian War Memorial.
