Diary related to the Second World War service of VX5354 Private Keith Lindsay Lewtas, 6th Australian Division. This diary written between 1 January 1938 and November 1939 mentions: His study on the 'administration of the government and fighting services'; his comments world and domestic political events in 1938; his helping with his family business; attending church events; sports his plays and attends; his wish to be part of the militia and how circumstance have prevented him from joining the permanent military staff; his enlistment in the 17th Machine Gun Regiment; the outbreak of the Second World War; his mandatory 30 days militia training; his enlistment in the 2nd AIF and the selling off his business goods before his move to training for the AIF.
