Thbeng Mean Chey, Cambodia. 1993-02-18. Lance Corporal (L Cpl) Dave Hurrey (left), of Echuca, Vic, and L Cpl Paul Astbury, of Bendigo, Vic, with Australian Signals Corps, United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC), on patrol in the village markets. They are members of over 500 Australian troops serving as part of a 15,000-strong United Nations peacekeeping force. The UN is in Cambodia to prepare the country for free elections this year. The Australian contingent is providing the military and civil communications infrastructure for the operation.
