Description
Pteah Kangaroo, the headquarters of the Australian contingent to the United Nations Advance Mission In Cambodia (UNAMIC). The Australian contingent had arrived in Cambodia at the beginning of 1991-11. UNAMIC's role was to set in motion the Cambodian peace process and pave the way for the deployment of the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC). UNTAC took over from UNAMIC on 1992-03-15, even though the large sign on Pteah Kangaroo still proclaims it as a UNAMIC facility. The building is also adorned with the Australian flag and a flag depicting the boxing kangaroo.
