Description
Cambodia, 1993-05-30. In a remote rural area, the back of a white United Nations (UN) truck serves as a polling station for the Cambodian national elections. The restricted space is crowded with Cambodians who are casting or waiting to cast their votes. A woman wearing a wide-brimmed light hat is placing her completed voting papers in a ballot box. At left, other Cambodians wait to board the truck in order to cast their votes, while at right a blue-helmeted soldier serving with the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC) keeps a watchful eye on proceedings.
