Cooper, Wade Graham (Lieutenant Colonel, b.1984)
Collection relating to the Afghanistan War service of 5805611 Captain (later Lieutenant Colonel) Wade Graham Cooper, Mentoring Task Force 2, Afghanistan, 2010-2011.
Wallet 1 of 1 - Consists of a field survey notebook kept by Captain Cooper, who was troop commander of Mentoring Task Force 2 (MTF-2). MTF-2 partnered with the 4th Afghan National Army Brigade to improve security in the Uruzgan Province. The Task Force conducted more than 2,500 patrols, locating approximately 130 improvised explosive devices (IED) and more than 380 weapons and explosive caches. Notes in the field survey notebook include codes for munitions and types of aircraft, TAD frequencies (tactical air direction), call signs, mission planning notes and mission data from patrols including the incident when LBDR Brendan Dover stepped on an IED. There are also team notes, questions for a ‘rockwiz’ trivia held over the radio when things were quiet, target information and a planning timeline for Cooper's upcoming wedding. Additionally the notebook contains some observation post sketches, post operation report notes, serial numbers for equipment, Afghan names and leave dates.
