Buerckner, Edward 'Ted' Francis (Private, b.1913 - d.1976) - Playing cards
Description
A pack of playing cards given to Ted Buerckner after being picked up by the USS Sealion in September 1944, following the sinking of the Rakuyo Maru on which he was being transported to Japan. The playing cards consist of 52 faced playing cards and 1 joker in their original packaging. The 'Aviator' playing cards were made for the use of the US Government and issued to the troops by the American Red Cross.
