Studio portrait of 7295 Private (Pte) William Brown Given McCahon, 9th Australian Infantry Battalion. A school teacher prior to enlisting on 14 October 1916, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ayrshire (A33) on 24 January 1917. Pte McCahon was wounded in action on 10 August 1918 and admitted to 55th Casualty Clearing Station. He died on 12 August 1918 from the wounds he received. He was 38 years old.
