Three RAAF pilots serving with No. 16 Squadron RAF. Left to right: 413949 Flying Officer Clarence Elliott Bone of NSW; 404616 Flight Lieutenant Colin Leigh-Murray of Devonport, Tas and Sydney, NSW; 414368 Pilot Officer (later Flying Officer [FO]) John Wilson Thorpe of Brisbane ,Qld; with FO J.H.Fowler, RAAF Public Relations Officer on the Continent. FO Thorpe died on 13 June 1945 in the Netherlands as a result of a motor cycle accident.
