UNTAC secret vote poster
An educational poster in Cambodian produced by the United Nations Transitional Authority for Cambodia (UNTAC). The poster depicts the processes involved in the 1993 free elections in Cambodia, including a polling both with a women voting by a screen and a United Nations peacekeeper guarding a ballot box. Below this scene two vital steps in voting are illustrated: a hand is shown writing a tick in one of the boxes on a ballot paper, this is followed by the image of a hand placing the ballot paper in the ballot box. . UNTAC produced a variety of posters to inform Cambodians of the electoral process and encourage their full participation in the election. This is one of many posters that were designed to build confidence in the secrecy of the ballot and instruct voters in voting procedures.
