Makarov Pistol
Makarov semi automatic pistol. Machined steel frame and top slide that has serrated edges towards the rear. The breech is marked X3 on the right side. It has an exposed hammer and brown plastic chequered grips with a five pointed star in the centre. There are no markings or serial number on this weapon. Complete with an eight round detachable box magazine. Overall metal parts blued.
This weapon was confiscated by 1 RAR in 1993 in Somalia while serving with the United Nations peacekeeping contingent. The Makarov pistol dates back to the early 1950's and makes use of many of the features of the German Walther PP pistol. It was a standard side arm for Soviet forces and for most of the eastern bloc countries. It is well made and many models have no markings on them.
