Operation Maxwell (LZ Ardvarc 1). Approach to LZ Ardvarc. American AH-64 Apache footage of a US Army CH-47D Chinook approaching its objective, Landing Zone Ardvarc. The aircraft was one of four Chinooks in the mission packet, two of these being A15-106 and A15-201 from Australian Army's 5th Aviation Regiment (5 Avn Regt). Captain Jason Otter, flying A15-106 later wrote: "Landing Zone Ardvarc and LZ Hornet were in mountainous terrain at an elevation of 6500’ AMSL [above mean sea level] with a corresponding Density Altitude (DA) of approx. 9000 feet. The mission was a two stage night patrol insertion involving US and Australian Aircraft in support of TF66. The first objective, captured here, included an LRPV, a 13000 lb vehicle carried as an internal load (in A15-106) and TF66 Special Forces. The second objective, was to LZ Hornet with additional TF66 SF and equipment”.
