Panoramic NVD OP Rattey Extraction at Redskin Ramp 0410hrs.
Description
Operation Rattey. 0410hrs. Preparing to depart "Redskin" Ramp, Tarin Kot for an extraction. Panoramic footage filmed through the Night Vision Device (NVD) of Captain Jason Otter, C Squadron, 5th Aviation Regiment (5 Avn Regt). Captain Otter later noted: "Having arrived the previous night at Tarin Kot and capturing the Redskin Ramp by day (see AWM2019.311.8.101), this imagery captures the same aircraft preparing to start. The imagery is narrated and shows the illumination of light from each aircraft when viewed through Night Vision Devices (NVD). Both [Australian Army Chinooks] A15-201 and A15-106 were utilised on this mission. The mission was awaiting two Dutch AH-64 Apache returning to Tarin Kot FARP for refuel as captured in AWM2019.311.8.103 and AWM2019.311.8.102. The Red light in the lower right corner of the image is the low battery light for the NVD and if present in flight would result in Aircrew selecting the spare battery pack".
