Description

Dulcie Cunningham lived in the town of Beaudesert outside of Brisbane during the war. There were a number of camps outside of the town including an American camp. Dulcie was a member of the Country Women's Association and the Comforts Fund Committee and was responsible for organising dances for these camps. She discusses in detail the dances, the interaction between the locals and the Americans especially the local girls. At one time there was also a camp of Filipinos and the attitudes towards them is discussed. Dulcie frequently invited servicemen home to her place and recalls fond memories of these times. The impact of war and the breakup of family life is also mentioned. Interview also held with Ken Cunningham her second husband whom she married after the war.
