Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of VX30281 Corporal Austin Carr, 2/21 Battalion. Collection consists of a diary and letters written on opened cigarette packets, kept while a prisoner of the Japanese on Hainan Island. Comments on garden, food, work, illness, punishments, allied air raids, lectures, deaths, gambling, cricket. Also includes lecture notes and recipes.
