Description
Bogara, northern Iraq. 1991-06. Members of a medical team with the Australian Service Contingent operate a roadside clinic in a village for Kurdish refugees fleeing Iraqi forces in the wake of the Gulf War. Four Australian teams of five personnel, each equipped with a Landrover and trailer, travelled in excess of 150 kilometres from the base camp each day providing humanitarian assistance to refugees located both roadside and in destroyed villages. The Australian Service Contingent provided humanitarian aid as part of Operation Habitat (Australia's contribution to the multinational response known as Operation Provide Comfort). One of a series of photographs taken by Major Jon Hodge.
