Probably Gir-i-Pit, northern Iraq. 1991-06. Members of a multinational medical team, possibly from the British Army medical squadron, weigh a Kurdish infant before treatment for malnutrition. As part of the multinational response known as Operation Provide Comfort, such teams, equipped with a Landrover and trailer, travelled in excess of 150 kilometres from base camp each day providing humanitarian assistance to Kurdish refugees fleeing Iraqi forces in the wake of the Gulf War. Following examination, these infants would be referred to feeding clinics, where after intensive feeding, the babies were returned to their mothers who were trained by medics to continue treatment. Such aid was administered by civilian and military organisations including the Australian Service Contingent as part of Operation Habitat (Australia's contribution to Operation Provide Comfort). One of a series of photographs taken by Major Jon Hodge.
