Europe. 1945-04-23. Portrait of former Australian banana grower 412868 Flying Officer (FO) F. C. Wilkinson, of Tweed River, NSW, who has flown more than 3600 battle casualties to Britain, and leads the field in the mild rivalry for the honour of carrying the most casualties. FO Wilkinson is a member of the Sparrow Flight squadron, the name given to one of the squadrons evacuating casualties from the Continent in Douglas C47 Dakota air ambulance aircraft.
