Studio portrait of Douglas Burton and unidentified soldier
Description
Studio portrait of VX39486 Private (Pte) Douglas Frederick William Burton (right hand side), 1st Field Bakery, and an unidentified soldier. A casual labourer and baker before enlisting on 22 January 1941, he became a graded baker before embarking on 25 February 1941. Pte Burton had previous been a Senior Cadet and also volunteered for the Australian Military Militia Forces. Pte Barton died of illness while a prisoner of war in Burma, on 17 November 1942. He was 28 years of age.
