In the front row, 4th from the right, is 1235 Lieutenant Ronald James Chibnall, 2nd Light Horse Regiment. A labourer prior to enlisting on 10 May 1915, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ayrshire (A33) on 1 September 1915. Lieutenant Chibnall returned to Australia on 13 March 1919.
In the front row, 2nd from the right, is 746 Lieutenant Francis Leigh Ridgway, 6th Light Horse Regiment, DCM. A station overseer prior to enlisting on 19 January 1915, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Marere (A21) on 20 February 1915. Lieutenant Ridgway was killed in action on 28 March 1918, while serving in Amman Palestine. He was 28 years old.
