Description

Papers relating to the Second World War service of Royal Australian Air Force representative sporting teams, 5 June 1943 - 11 March 1944.

This collection consists of papers relating to cricket matches played in London by the RAAF cricket team in 1943, including score cards and hand-painted posters. The collection also includes a hand-painted poster relating to a rugby union game played between a RAAF representative team and New Zealand combined services team on 11 March 1944. Sports such as cricket and rugby provided members of the Armed Forces and the public with rest and reassurance during wartime.
