Lancashire, England. 1945-08-08. Draftees board their home-ward-bound ship as part of the largest RAAF repatriation draft to leave Britain since the end of the war in Europe and sailed from Liverpool in the Orion, a 22,000 ton troopship. Six hundred of the 706 draftees were ex-POWs, the last of the ex-POWs left in Great Britain, except about 100 who remained for rehabilitation purposes.
