Second Lieutenant (2nd Lt) John (X-man) Crossman of A Squadron, 3 Cavalry Regiment, Royal Australian Armoured Corps, (RAAC), sitting behind his .50 calibre M2 Browning heavy machine gun in his M113A1 armoured personnel carrier, during escort duties along Highway 15. 2nd Lt Crossman is wearing the black beret and badge of the RAAC, together with his trademark red scarf, a personal gift from the Commander of the Vietnamese 577 Regional Force Company. The soldier eating out of the tin (left) is 38338 Corporal Richard Allen Albert.
