Description
Aerial view looking approximately northward of the road junction formed as Route 328, in the foreground meets Route 23. A convoy of Australian military vehicles is moving along Route 328 and then turning westward along Route 23, on its way to Dat Do and thence to the 1st Australian Task Force (ATF) base at Nui Dat. The vehicles are leaving the areas of Xuyen Moc and of the road junction at the conclusion of Operation Capital I. Part of the operation involved the repair of the bridge visible over the creek on Route 328 in the mid ground. Fanned out on either side of the road in the foreground are armoured personnel carriers (APCs) of 3 Cavalry Regiment, Royal Australian Armoured Corps (RAAC), which are providing security for the operational force's withdrawing from the area.
