Description
El Melise, Sinai, Egypt. One of the compounds occupied by peacekeeping observers serving with Observer Group Egypt, United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO). The observers used the compound as the setting-off point for patrols, which they carried out as part of their task of ensuring that Egyptian and Israeli forces in the Sinai kept apart and did not shoot at each other. The compound contains several white United Nations (UN) vehicle, while at right the UN flag flies from the side of a tall radio antenna.
