Kure, Japan. 1948-09-19. Swordsmith Taichi Goami dressed in swordmaker's garb, demonstrates how swords were made in ancient times. He is assisted by his son. The Goami family has a special crest that can be seen embroidered on the broad lapels of the kimono of the son. The cap that Taichi Goami is wearing is supposed to indicate the degree of proficiency of the swordsmith. The making or possession of swords is now illegal.
