London, England. c.1929. The cross erected on the battlefield to the memory of the Officers, Non-Commissioned Officer's and men of the 1st Battalion, AIF, who were killed in action c.1916-08-05. The cross was obtained for the Australian War Memorial by the Imperial War Graves Commission. This photograph was taken before shipment to Australia.
