Studio portrait of Private (Pte) Hector Norman Robert McQuinn, 15th Machine Gun Company. A coach painter from Cobden, Vic prior to enlistment, Pte McQuinn embarked with the 2nd Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Port Lincoln on 4 May 1916. Whilst serving on the Western Front, he was wounded in action and evacuated to England. Later rejoining his unit, he was killed in action on 19 August 1918, aged 28, at Harbonnieres and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
