#AnzacAtHome 2020
Description
Due to COVID-19, people could not gather as they had in previous years to commemorate military service by attending the annual Dawn Service. In the lead-up to Anzac Day, Australians were encouraged to conduct private driveway commemorations and #AnzacAtHome 2020 was a hashtag phrase developed to recognise and signify the shift to privately commemorating Anzac Day at home rather than through attending public ceremonies. Wendy and Peter Mahoney, both veterans, acknowledged their own service along with that of Wendy's father, WX40745 Lieutenant Colonel Alexander James Hugh 'Jim' McCallum, career Artillery officer who also served with 'Z' Special Unit, and her great uncle Angus Duncan McCallum. Poppy decorated lanterns, Jim McCallum’s medals, berets belonging to Wendy and Peter, a flask of 'gunfire breakfast' rum and two mugs form part of the preparations.
